The Bierer Meters GT400HDXL is a heavy-duty grounding assembly tester that is used to test the integrity of portable protective grounding assemblies. It can be used to test a variety of grounding assemblies, including elbow grounds, bushing grounds, mechanical jumpers, substation clamps, truck grounds, and cluster grounds.
The GT400HDXL uses a variable transformer to apply a rated ASTM current of up to 400 amps to the grounding assembly. The voltage drop across the assembly is then measured. The voltage drop in conjunction with a thorough visual inspection is used to determine if the grounding assembly meets ASTM electrical specifications.
The GT400HDXL is a compact and easy-to-use tester. It is powered by a conventional 115VAC outlet rated at 20 amps or higher. The tester includes a compact and easy-to-read reference chart. An optional voltmeter (suffix VMA) can be added to the tester to troubleshoot clamp and ferrule connections.
