The SMC Prime 600 is a high-end, digital micro-ohmmeter explicitly engineered for high-current substation testing. It stands out in the power testing market as a standalone instrument that records both static contact resistance and Dynamic Resistance Measurement (DRM) to analyze arcing contact wear in vacuum and SF6 circuit breakers.
Dynamic Resistance Measurement (DRM): Plots a high-resolution time vs. resistance curve sampling every 30 micro-seconds during a breaker open/close stroke. This allows diagnostics of internal arcing contacts without physically breaking open the gas chambers.
Dual Ground Operation Safety: Features a derived current input circuit that measures and suppresses ground-loop currents. Technicians can safely test assets with both sides grounded, eliminating the need to drop safety grounds during an outage window.
Automatic De-Magnetization: For user and equipment safety, the instrument automatically de-magnetizes the inductive test load immediately following the completion of every measurement loop.
Field-Ready Interfaces: Outfitted with a touch-sensitive graphical display, a built-in thermal printer for instant field receipts, and automatic temperature normalization logic (with an optional probe).
