The HV Diagnostics PD60-2/TD is an integrated, portable Partial Discharge (PD) and Tan Delta (TD) diagnostic system designed for testing medium-voltage electrical cables, switchgear, and transformers up to 62 kV peak (approx. 44 kV RMS)
PD Location (TDR): Built-in Time-Domain Reflectometry pinpoints the exact physical distance (in meters or feet) along the cable length where partial discharge activity occurs.
Integrated Coupling Filter & HV Divider: Houses high-voltage coupling capacitors and filtering circuitry inside the unit to separate PD high-frequency transients from the high-voltage test supply and background noise.
Software Integration (Suite): Connects via Bluetooth or USB to a PC running the HV Diagnostics control and diagnostic reporting suite for automated IEEE 400.2 (VLF Tan Delta) and IEEE 400.3 (Partial Discharge) assessment criteria.
Portability: Housed in a ruggedized, two-man portable transit case suitable for direct field substation or pad-mount transformer environments.
Maximum Operating Voltage: Up to 62 kV peak / 44 kV RMS at 0.1 Hz VLF
Primary Applications: Cable commissioning, condition assessment, fault pre-location, and maintenance testing on shielded MV power cables (XLPE, EPR, PILC)
Measurement Modalities:
Partial Discharge (PD): Detection, inception/extinction voltages ($U_i / U_e$), magnitude (pC), phase-resolved PD patterns (PRPD), and time-domain reflectometry (TDR) for PD fault localization.
Tan Delta ($\tan \delta$ / Dielectric Dissipation Factor): Measures dielectric losses to detect water treeing, thermal degradation, or general insulation aging.
Simultaneous Testing: Supports simultaneous PD and TD measurement in a single test sequence, reducing total cable exposure to test voltages and cutting test times.
