The Megger BITE5 is an advanced, handheld battery impedance tester designed for testing and maintaining lead-acid (VLA and VRLA), NiCD, and lithium-ion batteries. It is frequently used in substations, data centers, solar arrays, and telecom environments to measure cell health and identify weak cells in a string before failure.
Impedance Measurement Range: Up to 200 V DC per cell/module for the standard BITE5 (and up to 500 V DC on the BITE5-ADV model).
DC Voltage Measurement Limit: Up to 1000 V DC (suitable for solar combiner boxes).
AC Voltage Measurement Limit: Up to 600 V AC.
Memory / Storage: 8 GB to 16 GB internal flash storage capacity, plus an included 16 GB Micro SD Card (capable of storing up to 1,000 test records).
Display Interface: LCD touchscreen.
Included Probes: Comes standard with duplex probes featuring an integrated temperature sensor.
Multi-Chemistry Compatibility: Capable of testing Lead-acid (VLA and VRLA), NiCD, and Lithium-ion batteries.
Discharge Test Monitoring: Can be paired with a load bank (like the Megger Torkel) to continuously measure and record voltage, DC current, impedance, and temperature throughout a full discharge cycle.
Ripple Measurement: Automatically measures AC ripple voltage and current to help identify battery charger degradation.
Multimeter Functionality: Acts as a dual-purpose tool by incorporating standard voltmeter capabilities, eliminating the need to carry a separate DMM for solar or UPS maintenance.
Touchscreen Analytics: Allows for immediate, on-site trending analysis directly on the device’s full-color touchscreen without needing to connect a laptop.
Flexible Data Transfer: Data can be transferred to a PC via USB, Micro SD card, or wirelessly.
Software Integration: Fully compatible with Megger PowerDB software for comprehensive data management and custom report generation.
